Dear Play for Peace Friend,
In this time of global economic change we can be witnesses, and more importantly, participants in the creation of a new way of global living. Now is the time to examine our core beliefs and take a stand of personal responsibility – “to be the change we seek in this world” (Gandhi). The first step of change begins within ourselves, and from that inner force, we emanate out to our family, neighbors, country and to all the nations of the world. We have never been as interdependent as we are now; the need to support each other is great as we strive for the peace all of us hold deep within our hearts.
Play for Peace supports those that draw their strength from within and have such a strong desire for peace that they go out to the barrios, neighborhoods, playgrounds, and schools and become an example – a living, breathing example of peace. We offer the tools and skills for them to teach others how to do the same, igniting that spark within others that they, too, become personal beacons of peace.
Through the modality of play and self-expression, our youth leaders are able to provide the personal experience of joy and compassion amongst groups of individuals that may have only experienced strife and struggle with others. Our youth leaders, adult coordinators, partner organizations and regional hubs create safe environments for the basic development of social skills which transforms environments of competition and hatred into environments of safety and inclusion. By starting with individuals, we’ve created communities for peace in
the United States, Israel, Guatemala, Northern Ireland and India.
With your participation in Play for Peace, you too are part of this important work. Together, we are creating a better, peaceful future for ourselves, and most importantly, for our children.
Please continue your participation by making a contribution as a Partner for Peace today.
Sincerely,
Sharon Grove
