Myanmar: An afternoon with children from Myitkyina

“When I was leading I was a little bit worried if my instructions would be ok. I even forgot an instruction but I was supported by my team.” - A Play for Peace youth facilitator in Myitkyina

After lots of play and training in Myitkyina, it was time for the twenty workshop participants who were present for the day to lead their Practice Peace Sessions with local youths. Fifty children played and played and forgot any troubles they had for a magical afternoon. Take a look at some of the pictures below. After the session, the new Play for Peace facilitators reflected on the afternoon with the children. This is what some had to say:

  • “I had to give a lot of instruction.”
  • “We were not able to finish what we planned but the students were very happy.”
  • “When I was leading I was a little bit worried if my instructions would be ok. I even forgot an instruction but I was supported by my team.”
  • “I was excited to lead - there was no difficulty.”

The participants also agreed that the activities were new, the training was very relevant and they intended to use the activities in their work. Some of them also mentioned knowing a few of the games before and they found it valuable to focus on the objectives of each game. Most said they felt confident about sharing the games with others and emphasized that the Practice Peace Sessions were important.
