Building Spirit with Play for Peace in Cebu, Philippines

"Together we play to spread peace." - Catherine Mahilum, Play for Peace mentor, Cebu, Philippines

We'll be bringing you new stories soon from our Play for Peace Clubs in the province of Cebu, Philippines. In preparation for that, we'd like to share some highlights from a training conducted in the city of Argao just a couple of years ago. Joe Aperdo is a Play for Peace mentor, whose organization, the Alliance of Argawanon Youth Leaders (AAYL), partners with Play for Peace. Joe organized a training in Argao in June 2014, for 79 participants from eight different schools from Argao. Play for Peace Board Chair John Guarrine and Anbern Rodis Guarrine were there to assist, help, and guide the group. The objectives of the event were to inspire and motivate the youth to be servant leaders in their community by helping them learn and understand the core values of AAYL and Play for Peace. The event served as a stepping stone for more community service activities for the youth of Argao. As the photos show below, it was a lively event that created a great deal of laughter, compassion, and peace. We look forward to more stories from our Play for Peace Clubs in the Philippines. Stay tuned! Philippines[1]
