Elisa: A Child in Guatemala #walkforpeace2015

"I like to play with other kids, and with the teenagers because they are all nice. "

If you’ve been following our posts on the Play For Peace Palencia Club in Guatemala (and even if you haven’t), then you’ll enjoy this short testimony of one of our new child participants! Elisa lives in the village of Pie Del Cerro in Guatemala, considered to be one of the most violent regions in the world and, on July 21st, she was surprised to be invited to play by a group of youth facilitators in her township. Elisa is one of the reasons that we Walk for Peace!

Here’s what she had to say... My name is Elisa; I am 13 years old. I go to school and study at home. I also grow guisquil (an edible plant similar to squash), and we have cows to sell milk. Today I was buying food at the store when I saw the youth club playing on the soccer field. They invited me to join them. I asked my dad for permission to go and play. I liked the games because they were all different and really fun. I like to play with other kids, and with the teenagers because they are all really nice. I want to keep playing and I hope the teenagers come back next week. I liked it a lot. [gallery ids="2952,2971,2961,2955,2969"]
