Mabuhay! Meet Chad. He is a former facilitator of the Kool Adventure Camp of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (now RAFI Center for Leaders), an NGO based in Cebu, Philippines, that offers powerful learning experiences, whether through adventure or other experiential learning interventions, that help individuals and teams take the path of progress that will contribute to their wellbeing and the wellbeing of their communities. Currently, the stakeholder management officer for education is in the RAFI social well-being cluster. Born and raised in Argao, Cebu, he is not a stranger to civic leadership responsibilities because he was immersed in the works and ways of Sangguniang Kabataan (a youth council mandated by law in the Philippines) for his barangay (village), where he was elected as Chairman. Built on the youth's trust, he was later put up for election as the mayor of Argao, SK Federation president, and vice president of the Cebu Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation. He co-founded the Alliance of Argawanon Young Leaders (AAYL) in 2009 while serving in the SK, and it was then that he discovered his passion for facilitating youth development. The alliance works with many youth organizations to meet their needs for leadership development programs and other leadership interventions that leverage play, both of which are essential for the growth of young people. With his active local civic engagement, he was also exposed to global citizenship through Play for Peace Global in 2012. PFP was introduced by Bre Segundo Abrea Jr. and Anbern Guarrine. After getting to know John Guarrine and witnessing him directly lead play sessions with young people in his village, he gained a deeper understanding of the work of play for peace. (Argao). He participated in the Erasmus+ initiative Care What You Wear, which encourages young people to be aware of and active advocates for responsible consumption and production of clothing (SDG 12). He had the chance to experience his first international exposure through this program in Greece. With his mantra for personal breakthrough and co-elevation, he continues to seek opportunities for growth and becoming a better change agent as he acquires coaching certifications at Meta-Coach Level II and Transformational Coach. Being a certified global youth trainer and with all of his skills in training, development, and organization development honed through the years in his development work, he managed to found CoLink, a PFP Global organization member inspired to uplift youth and their community through learning and development interventions powered by play.
