Preparing for the Feast for Peace Next Week!

We are getting ready for our annual fundraising dinner, the Feast for Peace, which will take place next Thursday, April 14 at Belvedere Banquets in Elk Grove Village, IL.

Our third annual Feast for Peace will feature a Carnevale theme, which will create a festive environment for all of our guests from the Chicago area and some special guests from other Play for Peace Clubs as well! Guests will be treated to live music, a family-style dinner, silent and live auctions and a raffle. Our emcee for the evening will be Jerome McDonnell, host of the show Worldview, on WBEZ radio.

Our Board Chair and trainer, John Guarrine, will also lead the audience in two Play for Peace games. We are incredibly excited that Loren Rubin, our certified trainer for the Play for Peace Club in Los Angeles, will be coming into Chicago to receive the Michael J. Terrien Service Award. Also coming in from the Los Angeles Club is Play for Peace mentor Jessica Guendoley. Play for Peace’s co-founder, Craig Dobkin, will be traveling in from Denver, along with two mentors from the Denver Play for Peace Club, Shannon Whitmer and Dominick Miller. Play for Peace trainers Richard Rutschman and Robert Valle will represent the Chicago clubs at the event, and many of our Chicago-based volunteers will attend as well. Board members on the planning committee have sold a lot of tickets and are busy gathering items for our silent and live auctions.

Play for Peace Executive Director Sarah Gough will be a guest on Jerome McDonnell’s radio program on Thursday to talk about Play for Peace and our upcoming event. We’ll share the recording of the video as soon as it is available. It will be a great night for members of the Play for Peace community in the U.S. to come together. If you are in the Chicago area and would like to attend, please purchase your tickets today!

If you need further enticement to join us at the Feast for Peace, please enjoy this brief video about the event, which was put together by a new Play for Peace volunteer, Laura Vazquez!
