It is thanks to the passion and dedication of our trainers, mentors, and community members that Play for Peace continues to spread to new regions and areas of the world. This is especially true of our regional coordinator, Rita Nguyen, who in 2012 founded the first Play for Peace club, A New Day Social Work Club, in her home of Vietnam. Based in Ho Chi Minh City, A New Day Social Work Club is still thriving and focusing on creating an inclusive and caring environment for children often excluded from society.
Now a student living in Nebraska, while Rita is no longer at the helm of A New Day Social Work Club, her passion for peace building hasn’t faded. This past June and July Rita traveled to Vietnam, dedicating her summer vacation to spreading Play for Peace to new regions of the country—especially rural areas outside of Ho Chi Minh City. She hosted at least four trainings in these areas, in hopes of using cooperative play to create laughter, compassion, and peace and launch new clubs. We are excited about Rita's efforts—which are documented in the video below—and look forward to welcoming new communities to the Play for Peace global community.
